Scar care that actually works
Twelve months of work for a result you keep for life
The appearance and visibility of your scars are the part of your overall result you can still impact after the operation. Here is what we ask you to do, and for how long.
Silicone
Silicone scar tape, silicone sheets and silicone-based gels all do the same job; the difference is practical. Tape and sheets stay put under the vest, gel suits areas that move. Start once the wound is fully closed, usually around week three, and keep going for twelve months.
Massage
Massage the scar with a bio oil or ointment. Firm enough to move the scar against the tissue underneath, not hard enough to hurt. Two minutes, twice a day.
Sun
New scars pigment permanently if they burn. Cover them with an SPF 50+ cream for a full year after surgery.
