Preparing for top surgery: the three-week countdown

Good preparation is the cheapest way to improve your result. None of this is complicated, but every item genuinely affects healing, scar quality and how comfortable your first week feels.

Three weeks before

Stop nicotine completely — cigarettes, vapes, patches and pouches. Nicotine constricts the small vessels that keep a nipple graft alive, and it is the single biggest avoidable cause of graft loss.

Two weeks before

Stop blood thinners and anti-inflammatories, and stop binding. If you take a blood thinner for a heart or clotting condition, tell us first so we can agree the plan with you.

The week before

Pack front-opening tops, arrange a caregiver for six days, and book six days and five nights in Istanbul.

On the day

Your bloods, ECG and breast ultrasound are done at the hospital on the morning of surgery, so there is nothing to book at home.
